Being perfectly imperfect

I can't believe what the scale told me last night.  It was very mean to me.  I haven't seen it in a while and as soon as I did it, it immediately told me that I was fat and ugly.  Did the scale do that to you too?  I'm not shocked.  Usually when we try to stay away from him that means that we are playing hide and seek and you can't always win at hide and seek especially when your jeans are telling you that you better run to base before he catches you. So in my attempts to tell the scale that he is not going to tell me who I am and what to feel about myself I start searching somewhere else for some real truth about who I am.  If you haven't read my blog about Remember Who you Are maybe you should.  It will give you some insight into my struggle with body image.  I've struggled with it most of my life but I felt God give me some truths a few months ago and he continues to open my eyes. Truth be told I ultimately feel better when I exercise and ...

Your name goes here, ______________, you're free!

As soon as you say, "I believe in Jesus!"  its just like this scene from Disney's famous movie, Aladdin.  Click here to watch.   When Aladdin releases the Genie from his bottle his life was completely changed from that moment.  He could now be free.  Free to do whatever he wanted to do.  Free from the duty of fulfilling other peoples wishes.  Is that true for you?  Are you free?  Are your chains gone or are you all bottled up?  Do you believe it to be true?  Are you living freely? I'm not but oh how I wish I was.  I say I believe that I'm free but my behavior, my stress level and my life SCREAM something different!  I spend most of my days trying to please those around me or worse, please myself.  The older I get the more aware I become of my shortcomings and the more aware I become of trying to be someone I'm not. I used to love to dance around the living room when I was little.  I come from a family who lov...

Hope in the Hurricane

Have you ever lived through a hurricane?  The Monday before was a normal day at school.  I didn't even realize that there was a possibility of school being closed for the next couple days as Hurricane Michael was developing out in the Gulf.  As I was on my way up to the front office to sign in for the day one of the coaches said we'd probably be closed the rest of the week due to the storm.  I was oblivious to the fact that it was going to head straight for us or even be any kind of a threat for the schools to be closed.  By the end of the day our Superintendent decided to close schools Tuesday through Thursday so we could use some of our schools as shelters and to ensure students safety.  Most everyone in our small rural community of Calhoun County, Florida really believed that once it hit land it would start to dissipate and by the time it got to us we'd be just fine.  So, I'm thinking on Monday afternoon, "What am I going to do with 3 unplanned ...

Remember Who you Are!

Here I am again dealing with the same issue over and over and over again.  I'm either overeating or I'm starving myself.  What is the deal?  Why can I not break free from this? Ever since I was little I have struggled with my body image.  I've weighed 225lbs and I've weighed 136 lbs.  I am 5'8".  So if you look up BMI for a 5'8" female you will see that I've been Obese and I've been Normal.  I can weigh up to 164 lbs and still be considered in a normal weight range for my height, that is not even throwing in my age. Last Spring I was on a weight loss challenge at work.  I started at 155 and lost down to 136.8.  I haven't weighed 136lbs ever in my life that I can recall.  I was too thin!  I was super saggy and super bony. When I looked in the mirror all I could see was my age in my reflection in the mirror.  You would think finally getting to a weight on the scale that I've never seen before at 5'8" I would have been ecstati...

Do you need a water break?

Thirsty?  Are you feeling the need to drink something?  Are you in need of water?  Are you feeling parched? Water!  Water is so important to our daily lives.  I try to drink at least four 16oz bottles of water each day.  I began drinking water consistently in 2002.  I had gained a bunch of weight after giving birth to my 2nd child and had also quit smoking.   Water has no calories in it, it's good for me and at the time it kept me putting something to my mouth besides a cigarette.  It began a very good habit that I still keep today.  When I haven't had enough water for the day I can feel it in my body.   Why is water so important?  Let's see what google says,   "Our bodies are made up of 60% water.  The brain and heart are composed of 73% water and the lungs are about 83% water. Water forms saliva for digestion, keeps mucous membranes moist, allows body cells to grow, reproduce and survive, f...

13 days to a new view!

What is your view of you and who you are and do you need a new view? What does God say about you in his word and do you believe it to be true for yourself?   I recently watched the movie I Feel Pretty.  It was basically about a woman who viewed herself as being unfit and overweight.  Because of her view of herself she had low self-esteem.  One day she fell and bumped her head.  She immediately believed that she was thin and fit even though nothing about her outward appearance had changed.  Her new perceptions of herself completely changed how she went about her day and how she interacted with other people.   Change your perceptions and you can change your life!  I own several different pair of reading classes.  I have a red pair, a blue pair, an orange pair, a yellow pair, etc.  The lenses are all the same.  What if everyday I put on the blue pair of glasses I believed that I was going to have a blue kind of da...

Higher Love

Image
As I was praying about what to write about this month I asked myself this question, "What would God want people to know who read this?"  I truly believe that God would want you to know how much he loves you.  He loves you unconditionally and unconventionally. God loves you perfectly.  He created you.  He knows you fully and he accepts you fully.  He loves you so much that he gave you freedom to choose his love, to believe in his love and to follow his love.  No one will make you love him, not even him. You will always have God's love available to you.  All you have to do is accept it, trust it and follow it.  God will let you go and allow you to live on your own without his love.  He will not force you to stay in his love.  He has done all he can do for you.  It is our choice to live in his love or accept not to. What has he done? 1.  He made you 2.  He gave you freedom to choose what kind of life you'd like to ...
