The Wind. The Sand. The Ocean.

Image
The Wind.  The Sand.  The Ocean. The Wind.  It was coming from the north.  I set up my chair so I could feel the wind in my face.  I was not facing the ocean.  Several songs remind me that God’s love is like an ocean.  As I was sitting there with the ocean at my back and the wind in my face I realized that I do life like that.  God’s love is right there behind me but I’m facing the wind instead because it feels better.  God’s love is big, overwhelming and deep.  The breeze had ceased to caress my face, my skin was hot to the touch, sweat was dripping down the sides of my face.  I took my glasses off and set them on top of the bag beside me, carefully took off my watch and placed on the table that had my SPF on it. The Sand.  My feet were warm.  I stood up feeling kind of light headed.  I looked out at the ocean in front of me.  I took a step and sand wrapped around my toes, then another step, the sand ...

Life is not a line dance...but I wish it was.

Growing up I used to love to watch musicals.  I've always had a love for music.  I used to enjoy dancing around for my parents in our living room.  You could put on any song and I'd find a reason to dance to it.  As I reached middle school age I decided that dancing in front of people was embarrassing.  Especially if you didn't know what you were doing.  Freestyle dancing just seemed quite scary after I reached a certain age, especially in front of others.  As I got older it became more and more intimidating until I learned of such a thing as line dancing. Line dancing involves learning the steps and then putting those steps to music.  What's bad about line dancing or any kind of choreographed dances put to music is that it changes the way you listen to that music.  Once you learn a dance to a particular song from this point forward when you hear that song you will want to do that particular dance.  For example, can you listen to the...

Who is God?

Dancing.  Just that one word invokes joy to my heart.  It invokes it because it involves music, rhythm and movement.  As I have developed my relationship with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit they have shown me many truths.  I don’t have all the answers you may be looking for but I have experiences that I’d like to share in hopes that it will make you want to know them better for yourself.   A few years ago I was sitting in the corner of a busy gym.  The gym was full of high school students either bumping a volleyball, playing basketball or walking around the edges.  It was a sight of chaos the same way that my life was feeling at the time. I’m always striving and wondering what my next step in life should be, where should I be headed, what should I be pursuing and I’m always second guessing if I’m on the right path.  As I was staring across the busy room I was looking directly at the other corner of the gym that was empty and Jesus came to min...

13 days to a new view!

What is your view of you and who you are and do you need a new view? What does God say about you in his word and do you believe it to be true for yourself?   I recently watched the movie I Feel Pretty.  It was basically about a woman who viewed herself as being unfit and overweight.  Because of her view of herself she had low self-esteem.  One day she fell and bumped her head.  She immediately believed that she was thin and fit even though nothing about her outward appearance had changed.  Her new perceptions of herself completely changed how she went about her day and how she interacted with other people.   Change your perceptions and you can change your life!  I own several different pair of reading classes.  I have a red pair, a blue pair, an orange pair, a yellow pair, etc.  The lenses are all the same.  What if everyday I put on the blue pair of glasses I believed that I was going to have a blue kind of da...

Higher Love

Image
As I was praying about what to write about this month I asked myself this question, "What would God want people to know who read this?"  I truly believe that God would want you to know how much he loves you.  He loves you unconditionally and unconventionally. God loves you perfectly.  He created you.  He knows you fully and he accepts you fully.  He loves you so much that he gave you freedom to choose his love, to believe in his love and to follow his love.  No one will make you love him, not even him. You will always have God's love available to you.  All you have to do is accept it, trust it and follow it.  God will let you go and allow you to live on your own without his love.  He will not force you to stay in his love.  He has done all he can do for you.  It is our choice to live in his love or accept not to. What has he done? 1.  He made you 2.  He gave you freedom to choose what kind of life you'd like to ...
