Hope in the Hurricane
Have you ever lived through a hurricane? The Monday before was a normal day at school. I didn't even realize that there was a possibility of school being closed for the next couple days as Hurricane Michael was developing out in the Gulf. As I was on my way up to the front office to sign in for the day one of the coaches said we'd probably be closed the rest of the week due to the storm. I was oblivious to the fact that it was going to head straight for us or even be any kind of a threat for the schools to be closed. By the end of the day our Superintendent decided to close schools Tuesday through Thursday so we could use some of our schools as shelters and to ensure students safety. Most everyone in our small rural community of Calhoun County, Florida really believed that once it hit land it would start to dissipate and by the time it got to us we'd be just fine.
